mr & mrs {Kathryn & Andrew Jacobs}

Meet Kathryn and Andrew Jacobs. A handsome Aussie couple who moved from the UK recently to live and work in Singapore but decided to hold their wedding in their homeland, in Perth, Australia. How lucky for Andrew that the photographer Josh Alach is a friend of his, as these shots are amongst some of the most stunning and creative I've seen and actually scored a comment from my boyfriend who said it really made him wanted to get married!

Kathryn opted for a 1930's art deco theme for the wedding, so had the shots lightly stylized to give it that vintage look and feel. They married at the incredible St Andrew's Subiaco church (check out the stained glass windows!) and were then whisked in a stretched Rolls Royce to their reception venue on Cottesloe Beach, Indiana's.

Kathryn designed her beautiful 1930's style sequin dress and had it made in Singapore by Ada at Martini-G. The cute bridesmaids outfits were also made by the dressmaker and were inspired by a Monsoon design that Kathryn spotted in an old magazine! These dresses are great and I love theat they've teamed them with accessories like the fan and the beads (and the very high heels!) The girls' make-up was done by friend, Ashleigh Richards (contact at ash@ashhairandmakeup.com.au) and the beautiful jewellery was handmade by jeweller Melanie Adam.

A gorgeous and happy wedding all-round, and goes to show how fun having your photos taken can be, and I guarantee that Kathryn and Andrew will have THAT shot of them on the beach with the sun behind them on their wall (hell, even I'm tempted to!)

pillow talk

Not everyone's cup of tea, but these light hearted Mr and Mrs pillowcases either make a great gift to yourselves or as a wedding present for someone else. What better way to mark your anniversary than making sure these are on the bed on that special date.

anemone no 1

I've been dreaming of anemone flowers for a while now, so thought it was about time to put them up here. I love them. Huge poppy like flowers in whites, brights and pastels neatly huddled in one bouquet make for a very classy look indeed. Mix similar shades together for subtle-chic or go all out drama with the blood red flowers which will be nothing short of jaw dropping. In season Jan-May and from August-Dec so perfect for Spring and Winter weddings.

fashion shoot

Finally! After searching far and wide I've found a husband and wife Photography team Chanelle & Craig, otherwise known as Segerius-Bruce Photography who are UK based and who produce the most amazing shots! Here are some gorgeous examples of their work, which also includes their 'fashion-style' shoots. Along with their stunning wedding portraits, they also offer 'Shoot The Dress' (aka trash the dress) which is a post-wedding shoot of the bride (and her groom) in their wedding attire at a chosen location to create memorable images for keepsake - what bride wouldn't want to wear her dress for a second day...? For more beautiful photography check our their blog.

sunny days

Not sure why i'm feeling particularly sunny on a Monday morning when the sun isn't really shining, but these sunflower bouquets seem to have set me on a cheery note! The best thing about Sunflowers is not only are they perfect for a summer wedding, they are budget friendly too. If you are green fingered, you can even grow your own as they are easy to cultivate and how satisfying to have grown your own bouquet! There are two sizes of flower so you can choose to have a few larger flowers or many smaller ones. These images hopefully give some sunny inspiration!

Etsy Buy #1

I've seen this idea around a fair bit and now i'm quite excited as I can get my hands on them from Etsy! Mini personalised retro looking flags to pop into individual fairy cakes to give a kitsch tea party look. Gives oomph to plain fairy cakes (especially if you are making them yourself) or can add a cute finishing touch to favour cakes instead.

site savers

If you are looking to add more blogs to your browser (god knows I have enough!) then here are some new ones to look out for. Daily Candy have started up a site dedicated to weddings featuring unique and fab details on dresses, dancing and drinking and if you are already a fan of Daily Candy then you know they always come up trumps with ideas, whether you are marrying in London or New York. A favourite shopping site of mine has also produced a section dedicated to the big day, Sheerluxe weddings. If you are looking for where and what to buy then this is the place. Dedicated to everything gorgeous, you can find where to get pretty much everything for your day from rings to underwear to dresses to shoes to, well you get the idea. Be warned though - this site gives you the I-Wants. Badly.

cake dash

We all rely on good old M&S for knickers, dinner party food and comfy shoes and now there's one more thing you can rely on them for - wedding cake. If you are planning your wedding in a hurry and don't want to splash out too much but still want a classic pretty looking cake these gorgeous and good value versions from Marks and Spencers are a great option. They are made to order as tiered or mini-cakes and can be available in 21 days with a variety of sponge options. Just order online and pick up in your local store. Get the bespoke feel with a floral arrangment that matches your bouquet. Easy as pie. Sorry I mean cake.

sellout

Times are hard right now, so if you are thinking twice about forking out for a brand new dress, then there are a few sites other than ebay that are a good place to start. Sell My Dress has a huge range of designers such as Alan Hannah, Provonias, Vera Wang, Suzanne Neville and Ian Stuart along with bridesmaids outfits, accessories and shoes. It's a great site to navigate, including pictures and if you don't really know what you're looking for the search function is really useful. Another great site for this type of thing is Preloved, a huge list of wedding dresses from many designers for you to browse and I predict you could pick up a definite bargain here.

Congratulations!

A huge congratulations to my sister Holly who got engaged to her boyfriend Chris last week. It was a very romantic and thoughtful proposal up the Edinburgh castle with Champagne, so well done Chris! I'm very happy for you both and even happier that i'll be helping with the planning, I've already started...! (ps the photo is of her as a bridesmaid otherwise that would have been the speediest wedding ever!)

where the wild roses grow

Do you have a vision of a being a natural/eco bride? Although it's not for everyone, a Wildflower bouquet can offer a simple, rustic and unique style for your wedding. They add that relaxed 'hand-picked' element, so for a low-key natural wedding they would be perfect. The great thing about these bouquets are they are allowed to look a little wild, so it's a perfect way for a bride on a budget to create her own bouquet from flowers that she has grown herself. Now that's budget AND environmentally friendly.

baggage

Every bride needs a small handbag for the day to carry a bit of lippie, powder and perfume (even if it is fobbed off to the chief bridesmaid to carry) Shefaly have a great selection of very pretty bridal handbags, and a great prices too. Whether you are after one with flower details, sparkle, or the vintage look have a peek at their website. My favourite is the lace clutch - so now.

buried treasure

These are plantable seed favours - which are little cards with seeds embedded within. The idea is that your guest takes them home and plants the card (or the butterfly!) and grows some colourful wildflowers as a reminder of your wedding. They look sweet and are very appropriate for those with an eco theme. Think about your guests though as like me - they may only have a window box for a garden. Another cute find are the daisy seed tins, which serve a similar purpose but look that extra little bit prettier. All from Caesar's Party Supplies.
